August Fishing Report 2018

The month of august is typically hot, hot, hot.  Well the same can be said for kayak fishing in clearwater.  The bite is hot.  Kayak fishing in general is a great experience.  The feeling of being at water level is unmatched.  During the month of august it is hot so make sure you dress appropriately.  Almost all of my charters during the month of august start early.  When you are kayak fishing with artificial lures the early bird gets the worm.

During the month of August my busy charters are the night trips to beat the heat and the morning trips.  Night fishing from a kayak is a great way to beat the heat.  You have the opportunity to catch snook, redfish, and trout just like the day time in addition to a possible shark if thats what your looking for.  My day trips start out early typically at sunrise.  We start on the kayaks and typically will work a flat with a topwater lure at sunrise.  Kayak fishing in Clearwater is awesome when using artificial lures.  The morning and evenings give you the best chances with these lures during the month of August.  The fall cool down is coming soon I hope and we all pray this Red tide stays south like it has been.

All of our charters start on the Old Town Predator Pedal kayaks.  We have been throwing a lot of topwater heddon spook jr's and yozurri pencil's both in a bone or natural color in the morning during our kayak fishing trips.  Typically after we have located some decent fish we will switch up our techniques to some soft plastics.  I have all my clients throw Z-man fishing products scented paddlers. During a kayak fishing trip using artificial lures you will have to switch up presentation speeds and lure colors based on numerous conditions.  This is very true when you are fishing in August.  August the water is typically very warm so the fish slow down.  Slow down your retrieve to entice some more bites.

September Fishing Report
September 2018 is upon us and so is an epic Redfish bite. Kayak fishing in Clearwater Florida is getting better every day. The fall transition is starting to happen and the redfish are coming in off the gulf post spawn. The fish are hungry and a great target while kayak fishing on the flats. The snook bite is still strong and as the water and weather begin to cool the snook are making their way back into our creeks and river systems. Artificial lures are going to be on fire in the next couple of months. During your kayak fishing trip in Clearwater you can also expect The trout bite to turn on. As the weather cools the bigger trout our area is known for are coming out to play. My Old Town Predator pedal kayaks are the perfect way to take advantage of this amazing bite!
