CHARTERS

Charter Q&A

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes, unless you are a Florida resident over 65 years of age.   The charter fee is for kayak fishing so there is no license fee that Inshore Slam Kayak Fishing can obtain to cover the trip.  License fees are inexpensive in Florida and easy to obtain.

How do I get my fishing license?

Walmart usually sell licenses in their outdoor department.  Licenses can be obtained online or over the telephone.

Inshore Slam Kayak Fishing recommends obtaining your license online and downloading the FWC app for your smart phone.

What should I bring?

  • Florida Saltwater fishing License (see previous question on how to obtain)

  • Sunscreen

  • Hat, Polarized sunglasses

  • Towel

  • Water Shoes/Slip ons

  • Drinks/food/snacks you may want to enjoy while on the water

If you desire, you can always bring any personal rod or equipment that will make your trip more comfortable!  Please let your guide know and provide twenty four hour notice so he can prepare.

What I provide for my Guest...

  • Kayak

  • Paddle

  • PFD (Personal Flotation Device)

Will I catch fish?

Unfortunately your guide cannot guarantee we will catch fish.  That being said it is rare to have poor results.  Your guide will work very hard to get you on the fish. Your guide will choose the ideal tide time and place to give you the best possible opportunity to catch fish.  While doing so you will also have the ability to learn and educate yourself on fishing with tides and finding the fish.

Will we use live bait?

Inshore Slam Kayak charters, believes in artificial baits only and will offer all instruction for proper fishing techniques with these baits.

What species will I catch?

This can be a long list, the main targets are Snook, Redfish and Speckled trout.  By Catch: Flounder, Ladyfish, Jacks, Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish.  It is always possible to have a run with a Cobia, Pompano or even sharks.  Tarpon trips are also available (seasonal).

Do you offer fishing charters at night?

Yes. Nighttime fishing offers fun and exciting experience from a kayak.  All senses are utilized.  The rush of the unknown and the excitement of dark coupled with a full moon are unbeatable.  During the summer time night trips are more comfortable to beat the Florida heat and often fishing is more productive.  These trips are seasonal and based on moon cycles.

Do you offer Eco/Sightseeing tours if you do not like to fish?

Yes!  The areas surrounding Dunedin and Clearwater are some of the best waters to explore and sight see.  See dolphins playing and chasing fish.  Pedal next to manatees relaxing on the flats.  You will also have the chance to run into an occasional sea turtle.  The overall kayaking experience is very calm and relaxing.  It is the perfect way to enjoy one of Florida’s best waterways.
